| In brief: |
Restoration and renovation of a private old house with a living space of 350 m². The top floor was completely renovated inside and then expanded to an independent apartment. Heating and electrical system are renewed and replaced with the latest technology. In addition, all bathrooms (3 bathrooms, 1 guest toilet) are newly designed and completed. Moreover the flooring, plastering, sealing the building against the intrusion of moisture and the paint work of the house, were to be done. |
| Challenge: |
To combine simultaneously, the benefits of two roles, that I am, that of an architect as well a craftsman. The plasterboard work (loft conversion), tile work, building exquisite furniture, furnishing, laying the wood floors and painting the walls, were executed by me. The greatest difficulty was the renovation of the roof, which was badly damaged by dry rot and insect infestation. The previously new roof covering made essential to restore it from the inside. |
| Results: |
In close cooperation with the building owner, who has a good sense of colour and design, a modern, timeless ambience of sophisticated architecture was achieved. The building owner placed particular emphasis on high quality materials and craftsmanship. |
