| In brief: |
Reconstruction and expansion of a 100 year old stone house with an pre existing building extension from the sixties. |
| Task: |
The main building was at the beginning in ruins. The ground floor was used as a stable. The owners wanted a completely renovated and modernized reconstructed country according to contemporary standards and generous space coordination for their families. The typical character of a Greek farmhouse is preserved. In addition to the main works, furniture such as tables, kitchen and bathroom were personally designed and built. |
| Challenge: |
The building was permeated by large cracks and prone to collapse on further expansion. To avoid the collapsing of the building, stabilising the interior stone walls with the addition of 3 concrete anchors while hiding them to keep the clear traditional character. |
| Results: |
Due to efficient planning of the limited usable area, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a guest room toilet, two storage rooms and a large living room with open kitchen were achieved without sacrificing the spacious overall feeling. |
