Villa "Olive"

( newly built vacation home, Peloponnese, 2007 )

Owner: French private owners

Design: ena-architecture

Location: Sapounakaiika, Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece

Services:

design, planning, construction management in Greek, craftsmanship, Furniture.

In brief:

Construction of a vacation home for a family in the village on a 2.000 m² plot. Bathrooms, kitchen and fireplace in exposed concrete, constructed by me. Other materials are natural stone, chestnut wood, and polished screed, mosaic tiles and partly glass.

Task:

Modern building nestled in the village structure and topography. In addition to the house, the landscape was designed including the garden with access routes and a french bowling field.

Challenge:

The building was expected to meet the local building codes for a traditional village architecture while complying with the requirements of the clients for contemporary design and appearance.

Due to the lack of infrastructure, all the work, as well as the in-situ concrete was achieved by handwork. The limited technical skills of the local craftsmen, made it necessary to complete all the specialised detailed works by both an invited German master craftsman and myself.

Results:

On 150 m², four bedrooms, two bathrooms, two guest bathrooms, a spacious kitchen with subsequent terrace, house service technology and storage spaces have been created.

The design meets the lifestyle and the demands of the clients and as they themselves state the house they always dreamed of.
